Artline Open Doors Weekend

Artists and makers based in studios in refurbished station buildings along the East Coast railway mainline in Fife will open their doors to the public for Artline Open Doors Weekend.

Having exhibited three times at the Venice Biennale, with works in the most prestigious art institutions in the world, a Swiss-born artist Urs Fischer returns to the Modern Institute with a new spectacular show, Maybe, developed for the Glasgow International.

The new exhibition at the Modern Institute’s Aird’s Lane space is occupied by a black rectangular structure. Only by coming closer to it one can notice that it actually comprises of four cubes, all black, the ones on the top shiny and the bottom ones completely matte.

For this year’s GI Lubaina Himid joined some other 250 artists in transforming the city’s most remarkable sites. Himid is the winner of the last year’s Turner Prize, as the first black female woman to win the award, but also the oldest winner, after raising the age restriction for the participants.
