5th – 12th October
Set in historic Haddo House and its grounds, the Haddo Arts Festival returns with a packed programme of music, theatre, workshops and art. Highlights include an evening with Scotland’s Makar (National Poet) Jackie Kay with music for cello and piano, the Maxwell Quartet performing works by Mozart and Debussy, Baroque music on recorder, cello, violin and harpsichord by Red Priest, and Scottish Opera’s popular Opera Highlights show, featuring music by Vaughan Williams, Mozart, Delibes and others.
As part of this year’s festival, members of Aberdeen Artists Society are showing Connections: Experimental Use of Space, an exhibition of sculpture, installation, film, image projection, painting, textiles, printmaking, performance, photography and sound in and around the South Wing courtyard of the House – an area rarely open to the public.
