A new group exhibition celebrating 10 years of Polish art in Scotland is set to take place at Scot-Art in Edinburgh. POLSKI includes new and existing work by 17 artists of Polish heritage, based in the city and Scotland, and includes sculpture, painting, photography, performance and video.
All the artists have been part of the artist in a unique residency programme at Abbeyhill Primary School over the last 10 years and the exhibition, curated by POLSKI founders Iga Bozyk and Iliyana Nedkova will be accompanied by a programme of special events, including a Frederic Chopin-inspired live music performance led by POLSKI musician-in-residence Aga Idczak. There will also be hands-on guided tours for all the School’s pupils, led by sculpture artist-in-residence Marcin Krupa, and an opportunity to re/discover the fascinating story of Marie Sk?odowska-Curie – the first woman to receive the Nobel Prize for her groundbreaking work in radioactivity, through an innovative living statue show, led by performance artist-in-residence Izabella Walkowiak-Radcliffe.
The exhibition is supported by the City of Edinburgh Council Diversity & Inclusion Fund and the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Edinburgh, and is organised by the Polish Contemporary Art Organisation. It is also part of the Colony of Artists in Abbeyhill Edinburgh (20th – 21st Sept), with a preview on 18th Sept, 6-9pm.
Scot-ART is the new name for the artist studios and gallery space at St Margaret’s House, formerly known as Edinburgh Palette.
